Congratulations to coach Adam Levine and Maroon 5 for taking home the trophy as “Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group” at the American Music Awards on Sunday night!
It was the first AMA win for Maroon 5, which also performed “Moves Like Jagger” with coach Christina Aguilera – after which Adam literally walked across the stage and launched into “Stereo Hearts” with Gym Class Heroes (while battling a cold!).
Accepting the trophy, Adam thanked “our incredible fans for making this happen” – as the trophies were handed out based on online voting after nominees were chosen based on tabulations from radio airplay and other factors.
Backstage, he made a very Adam-esque quip about the AMA trophy itself, saying “We’ve never won an American Music Award, and it’s wonderful to be acknowledged for our music. It’s very sharp, though, so we’ll have to be careful around the house.”
Adam also appeared on ABC’s Nightline Saturday night as the “Celebrity Playlist.” If you missed that, you can view the segment in its entirety on ABC’s website.
Off-air, coach Blake Shelton also came home with an AMA for Country Artist (Male), which he can put next to the Country Music Award he also recently won.
