It’s a good weekend for fans of Team Christina: tomorrow afternoon, as part of their Behind The Music roll-out, VH1 will re-air the 2010 Behind The Music: Christina Aguilera. Check your local listings for specific time and channel.
As previously announced, Christina will also be bringing us a taste of her new single “Your Body” on The Voice on Monday. Then there’s this interesting quote from an interview with Team Christina mentor Billie Joe Armstrong that appeared in this week’s Rolling Stone:
Q: How did you end up as a mentor on The Voice?
A: My wife and I watched it every night. It was this guilty pleasure. They asked me if I wanted to be a mentor and either go on Adam’s team or Christina’s. And I thought it would be much more interesting to go on Christina’s team; we’re at two completely different ends of the world. It was fun. We ended up laughing and joking around. Everyone said it was the best mood she’s been in the whole time she’s done the show.
Billie Joe also makes a quip about Xtina’s amount of mascara (“I came in a close second, that’s for sure”) but the part that makes me arch my eyebrow is that third sentence – that BJA was picked for the show by the producers, not Christina. In past seasons, the coaches have gotten to pick their own mentors, and I think it ought to stay that way. Their teams, their rules. What does anyone else think?
